Helen Liene Dreifelds

Through structured improvisation and textile thinking, Helen Liene Dreifelds (b. Toronto, ON, Canada, currently based in New Haven, CT, USA) works in sculpture and installation driven by research on transformation through themes of affect, language, and duration.

Past residencies include ISSP Riga (2022) and Harbourfront Centre (2014-2018). Her work has been featured at Idea Exchange at Cambridge Art Galleries, Harbourfront Centre, Lonsdale Gallery, and Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts. Grants from the Toronto Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts have supported her practice.

Holding a BA in Applied Human Sciences, majoring in Community Development and minoring in Art History from Concordia University (2009), as well as a DEC in Constructed Textiles from Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles (2014), she is currently pursuing her MFA in Sculpture at Yale University.
